Covid-19: How you can help.

1.  Volunteer.  Midlothian Council and Dalkeith & District Community Council are compiling lists of those willing to offer their services as a volunteer to help those in the vulnerable category.  Typical tasks that might be involved include doing shopping, collecting prescriptions, walking the dog, putting out a wheelie bin, chatting on the phone. delivering a hot meal prepared at a central facility etc.  If you think you could help in this way please send an email to giving your name, contact details, any relevant special skills, if you are PVG registered, if you have a car, if you can drive but don’t have a car etc.  There is appropriate training and insurance cover provided.

2.  Could you help fill Council gaps?   At the present time, many firms are having to make staff redundant because of a drastic fall in the number of customers.  Many of these people have valuable skills that could be used by the Council during this time when Council Staff are unable to get to work because they are self-isolating, in a vulnerable category, or recovering from the virus.  Midlothian Council would like to employ anyone who has the skills the Council needs to cover gaps in its provision.  In particular, at this time, the Council are interested in hearing from any Catering Professionals, with the appropriate qualifications, who would be interested in working for the Council during this period.  The Council wants to maintain provision of school meals to those children who normally receive a free meal, but many of the Council’s own catering staff are currently unable to get to work.  If you are interested, or indeed if you have any other skill you think the Council could use contact and they will take it from there.
